December 16, 2014 – After The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Two years ago, our band was selected to participate in the 88th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.  Since then, it has been a whirlwind of events to prepare for this Once-In-A-Lifetime experience with our program.

From the time we arrived in NYC, we were greeted with smiles and helpful assistance from the Students on Broadway crew. Their tour guides provided us with a unique knowledge of the city, and their time management and flexibility with our students was wonderful.  Transitions between events ran smoothly, and communication between the Students on Broadway correspondents and directors was immaculate.  At no point was I worried about anything logistical regarding the students.

The Students on Broadway NYC branch provided us with a jam-packed itinerary that included many firsts for the program, and for New York as well.  The students were the first Macy’s band to hold a live concert at the bandshell in Central Park; we were able to practice our parade performance at an incredible indoor football facility in Connecticut; see some of New York’s featured attractions – Top of the Rock, the 9/11 Memorial, and the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular stage performance at Radio City Music Hall.  Let’s not forget the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, an experience that our students will remember forever!

After all the hustle and bustle, Students on Broadway arranged for an elegant dinner cruise with all 553 students, chaperones, and family that attended.  This was an excellent end to a very memorable trip that our students will never forget, and that we will always remember as going off without a hitch!

I would highly recommend Students On Broadway NYC to any Band Marching in the Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
